Design
When you look at the Coolpad Suva, you will feel the simple yet elegant design. It gives us premium smartphone vibes. The device has a measurement of 157 x 76 x 9.1mm, and the weight is 173g. It perfectly fits in the users’ palms. Holding it doesn’t feel too bulky.
The Coolpad Suva front’s side adopts a minimalist display look. The screen is surrounded by very thin bezels. An almost full-screen display that only leaves a small notch for the phone’s front camera. These features are pretty common for most of today’s smartphones.
On the back, it comes with a midnight blue color. In our opinion, this particular color just added a unique sophistication to the phone. It is a rare color choice that you hardly find in other smartphones. You can also find some features such as the phone’s dual rear camera, a LED flash, and a fingerprint reader.
Display
The display of the Coolpad Suva smartphone is featured by a 6.1-inch display screen. The size provides plenty of room for big-screen activities. We can play games or watch videos comfortably by the size of its screen.
Thanks to its 1560 x 720 resolutions, it supports a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is also considered an HD+ display, contributing to a stronger color capacity and phone vibrancy. Everything comes sharp but not that amazingly sharp.
The Coolpad Suva gives a good viewing experience. We hardly found any pixelated icons or images. It may show pixelations when you are zooming pictures or texts on browsers. But after all, it is still okay and quite subtle to notice.
However, the phone is a little hard to read outdoors. One of the most inconvenient compromises you will face when buying the Coolpad Suva.
Camera
The Coolpad Suva smartphone consists of a dual-rear camera. The main camera is a 13MP and the second depth camera is a 2MP. The dual-camera is one of the selling points of the Coolpad Suva. Especially since it is a budget-friendly phone.
The main lens supports shooting features such as night mode, panorama, and HDR. The 2MP depth lens can be useful for taking aesthetic photos with a blurred background. The HDR features also can provide high-detail image results, and the color comes more accurately. It’s not bad for social media savvy.
On the other hand, the Coolpad Suva comes with a 5MP front camera for selfie needs. It might not be an impressive resolution, but it is not that bad considering the phone costs.
For video purposes, this smartphone lets users record at 1080p at 30fps. It is possible to capture high-quality videos, upload short clips on social media, or just for video conferences.

Storage
The Coolpad Suva is equipped with 32GB of internal storage. For an entry-level smartphone, the storage capacity is large enough. But, unfortunately, this is not the real capacity to enjoy.
The smartphone has already come with some preloaded apps installed into it. Approximately, you can only access around 23GB. However, in our opinion, it is still a decent amount for storing some files, downloading apps, or taking pictures.
The Coolpad Suva smartphone allows you to insert additional external storage. You can add a Micro SD up to 64GB into the available slot, and it will increase your phone’s storage space. However, you should buy it separately.
Performance
The Coolpad Suva runs on a 2.0GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor to handle its performance. This chipset is pretty basic for an entry-class smartphone. It doesn’t deliver high-performance, but it is not bad for daily activities. Don’t expect fast-processing speeds.
The Coolpad Suva has a large RAM capacity. It is quite massive for a budget-friendly phone. As you know, RAM plays a crucial part in running apps on the device. It stores all the temporary data during the phone’s usage. The bigger the RAM, the faster the phones operate.
The 3GB RAM is making the phone do some intense multitasking. This RAM capacity allows you to run heavy data apps or open more apps simultaneously. Switching between apps will have a lot fewer lags.
The Coolpad Suva features Android 10 as its operating system. Some notable features can be enjoyed with this OS version. The UI design looks sleek and clean. We don’t feel confused about how to operate the phone. In this version, a dedicated Google Assistant can be accessed by users to do tasks faster and quicker.
The Coolpad Suva provides several security methods. There are face recognition and fingerprint sensors to unlock the phone. Like most Android smartphones, the fingerprint reader is located on the phone’s backside. The speed and accuracy are not bad.
Other sensors available on the Coolpad Suva include GPS, ambient light, proximity, and accelerometer. All of these work in harmony to provide a highly responsive device.
Unfortunately, there are no fancy sensors such as gyroscope sensors and compasses. The NFC sensor is also unavailable to this device. For an entry-level smartphone, it is quite understandable since you can only find this feature on mid-range phones. Let’s say goodbye to the e-wallet feature.
Connectivity
The Coolpad Suva allows users to connect through the 4G LTE network. This network is available in a wide-range area, so it’s convenient. The internet speed is pretty quick. The call quality is quite clear. To activate the connection, this device supports a Nano-SIM card.
However, if there is no data connection, you can use the Wi-Fi connection as an alternative. Using this can improve the phone’s performance and save battery usage.
The Coolpad Suva has a Bluetooth connection to connect with external devices or transfer files. The USB Type-C port is available for wired connection. Lastly, it also has GPS to use your phone’s navigation.
Battery
This smartphone relies on a 3,500mAh non-removable battery. At this capacity, we expect the Coolpad Suva to last for hours. The phone can withstand 24 hours max of talk-time. For standby mode, it can last up to 500 hours. Thanks to its non-removable battery type, the battery has a lesser risk of getting damaged by external factors.
The good part is that a USB Type-C power adapter can help your phone be fully charged faster. But unfortunately, like many budget smartphones, this device doesn’t come with wireless charging. After all, it is still acceptable. Ensure you maintain the app’s usage to prevent the battery from draining.
Is the Coolpad Suva a good phone?
Generally speaking, the Coolpad Suva is living proof that a budget-friendly phone can offer decent features. It has a great battery capacity, good quality dual rear camera, and fingerprint sensors.
But, there are some limitations on this device, such as the basic RAM capacity and the average display quality. It may need a bit of improvement, but it is still good enough to help your work easier.
In conclusion, in the Coolpad Suva review, this product is suitable for entry-level users. The retail price point is $50. However, you can get only $24 in Walmart’s online clearance sale. It’s a pretty good deal, though.
