Galaxy J3 Luna Pro Review

Samsung has recently released the Galaxy J3 last year to very good reviews for its functionality and efficiency in many aspects. This year, they have released a new version which is arguably even better than its predecessor, loaded with new features that make using this set an even greater breeze. Here is a review of the key features of the Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro.

Key Specs

Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro key specifications:

  • 5 inches (720 x 1280 pixels) TFT LCD Display
  • 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • 1.5 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage (MicroSD slot up to 256 GB)
  • Runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)
  • 5 MP rear camera with LED Flash and a 2 MP front-facing camera

  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB 2.0
  • Li-Ion 2600 mAh removable battery

The design of the Galaxy J3 Luna Pro is similar to that of its predecessor, simple yet stylish and quiet convenient in its dimensions. The size dimensions are 5.547” x 2.760” x 0.343” which makes the phone easy to be stored in pockets and be used with one hand. It is fairly lightweight at a weight of 5.079 ounces which makes it quite a handy and convenient set.

The 5 inch display is wide and big enough to make for great viewing and a high definition resolution of 1280 x 720 of the TFT LCD with 16M display colors really enhances the display of the set.

The operating system of the phone is the latest version of Android, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It is updated with the latest developments and works as efficiently as an Android OS possibly can.

The rear camera has a 5 MP resolution while the front camera hosts 2 MP only. This may seem quite low but it is backed up by flash and 4X digital zoom. When it comes to video recording, it offers 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30fps.

The Galaxy J3 Luna Pro runs on a 1.4GHz quad core processor which gives it a good capacity of running multiple apps at a time in the background and not let it hinder overall performance.

The internal storage of the phone is 16GB along with a 1.5 GB RAM. However, it can also support a MicroSD of up to 256 GB. This is similar to the previous edition of the Samsung Galaxy J3.

The network supported by the Galaxy J3 Luna Pro is the 4G LTE by Verizon. Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) is available to connect to wireless internet, so is Bluetooth (v4.2 A2DP), a microUSB 2.0 port is present along with a 3.5mm jack for headsets and also A-GPS for location finding services.

The 2600 mAh Lithium-ion battery is strong and allows for a standby time of up to 22 days and a talk time of up to 31 hours which quite impressive in itself. The removable feature of the battery also ensures that encase of a damaged battery, you can simply replace it.

Other than these basic features, the Galaxy J3 Luna Pro also has several sensors including an Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Geomagnetic, and Proximity Sensors. Other features also include multimedia messaging capability and compatibility for hearing aids.

So overall, the Galaxy J3 Luna Pro by Samsung is not a bad buy. It is good enough to satisfy the basic necessities and meet expectations that you would have from a general phone but does not offer anything too out of the box, with the camera resolution proving to be a bit of a let down. Nonetheless, it is an improvement over its predecessor and a satisfying set overall.
